When Karine of Seasons of Life Events contacted us about creating a cake for her granddaughter’s baby shower we were super excited as we love her work!

She shared with us that the theme of the event was “You Are My Sunshine”, and allowed us some creative freedom.  Lately I’ve been in love with ruffles – they are so pretty and romantic, and OMBRE (having colors or tones that shade into each other) is a hot trend in the wedding world right now.

We designed a 2-tier buttercream cake, with yellow ruffles on the bottom slowly fading into white on the top tier in a soft textured buttercream.  We hand painted the “you are my sunshine” banner, and Karine provided the pennant banner cake topper.  For their flavor, they chose our Guava Cake with Lilikoi Cream Filling.

Royal Aloha Wedding Featured on Entertainment Tonight

We were honored to be contacted by Kathy Ireland to provide this glam crystal cake for the grand prize winners of her Royal Aloha Wedding contest - a "wedding of their dreams" for special military couple, April & James.  This particular segment was featured on Entertainment Tonight.  More photos of the cake, and the wedding coming soon.

Katie & Bobby's Wedding

 

It was an absolute pleasure working with fun and laid back Katie & Bobby for their November wedding at the luxurious Oceanfront Oasis Estate.  Karine Matsumoto of Seasons of Life Wedding & Event Planning introduced us to Katie & Bobby, a young San Francisco couple who were planning their Hawaii destination wedding.  Katie's vision of her wedding was a colorful party where their 70 guests could have fun.

For their wedding cake, Katie knew she wanted cupcakes instead of a traditional tier cake so her guests could party the night away and grab dessert at their leisure.  Katie decided on this modern style square arrangement that held 260 mini cupcakes made up of 9 different flavors.  Some of the flavors she chose were Red Velvet w/Cream Cheese icing, Devils Food Chocolate w/Chocolate Buttercream, Coconut Cupcakes w/Buttercream icing and Mocha Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream.  To top off this stunning cupcake tower was a 6" Yellow Butter Cake filled with Lilikoi Cream and iced with Buttercream.  The arrangement was decorated with colors from Katie and Bobby's wedding palette of turquoise, orange and chocolate brown.  Several of the mini cupcakes were topped off with delicate, handmade blue hydrangea flowers to match the couples invitations and orange bauhinia orchids matching the floral decor were placed around the cake topper.

The cupcakes were a big hit with Katie & Bobby and their guests.  Katie left this review on our WeddingWire.com vendor profile:

"Kristin made our beautiful cupcake tower for our wedding. Nine delicious flavors of over 250 mini-cupcakes arranged artfully with a small square topper - vanilla with lilikoi filling (heaven in cake form) - amazing! Our guests absolutely loved the cupcake tower idea and thought the cupcakes tasted better then most wedding cakes they'd had - even a Wienstock cake!  Kristin was an absolute pleasure to work with - she's responsive, creative, smart and can create whatever you envision. Earlier in December we were invited to attend a special brunch hosted by former supermodel, turned business mogul Kathy Ireland of Kathy Ireland Worldwide.  Kathy Ireland and her company Oasis World Estates own and manage two luxury real estate properties on the island of Oahu.  Kathy's management hosted a spectacular open house party in November featuring these properties and A Cake Life was invited to be the cake vendor for the event.  As a thank you, Kathy graciously hosted a wonderful catered brunch at the Oceanfront Oasis.  It was a rare opportunity to have met and chatted with Kathy Ireland we are very grateful to have been invited.  She is a humble and extraordinary role model for all women.  Thank you Kathy!
